Sebastián Guerrero Hidalgo
I am a fifth-year chemistry student at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. My passion for the environment began early in my life through my involvement in the Boy Scouts of America. My research interests include ecosystem ecology, biogeochemistry, and environmental chemistry, with a focus on pollutants and their effects on freshwater ecosystems. I have researched the effects of trace metals in stream biofilms and investigated PFAS, heavy metals, and volatile organic compounds in freshwater and saltwater crab tissues. I aspire to pursue graduate studies where I hope to contribute to understanding and mitigating the effects of environmental pollutants on aquatic ecosystems.
