My research interests center around macro ecological questions in freshwater science. Specifically, combining large temporal and spatial scale analysis with cutting edge, open-source geospatial tools to perform species distribution modelling and spatial conservation studies mainly on freshwater fish biodiversity. I am part of the Global freshwater biodiversity, biogeography & conservation (GLOWABIO) at the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) which develops an integrative research platform to foster innovative, open science freshwater research. Among others it consists of the newly developed high-resolution stream network dataset Hydrography90m which is accessible via the hydrographr R package and GeoFRESH data platform. I am currently conducting my PhD "Assessing the role of the hydrographic network structure and connectivity on the South American freshwater fish diversity" at IGB.
