Zack Gilmore Society for Freshwater Science 2025 Annual Meeting

Zack Gilmore

I am an anthropological archaeologist specializing in the pre-Columbian Indigenous societies of Florida and the greater southeastern U.S. My research interests include shell middens & mounds, early pottery technology, long-distance exchange, public archaeology, and critical heritage. Recently, I've also developed interests in the archaeology of 19th-century company towns and labor camps tied to the turpentine and logging industries in Central Florida. I received my BA from Texas A&M University in 2003, MA from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2007, and PhD from the University of Florida in 2014 (all degrees in anthropology). I am currently an Associate Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Archaeology program at Rollins College.
