Alexis H. Hollander Society for Freshwater Science 2025 Annual Meeting

Alexis H. Hollander

I am a PhD student with the Wyoming Natural Diversity Database at the University of Wyoming. I am studying freshwater mussels and snails that occur in Wyoming, as well as in the archaeology record. My project is both foundational and interdisciplinary, working with other disciplines to answer basic questions such as what species of snails exist in Wyoming and are certain mussel species native to different drainage basins. In 2022 I received a M.S. in fisheries science from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, College of William and Mary for research I did on Atlantic surfclam growth and distribution in response to long-term environmental trends. I obtained my bachelors degree in biology from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 2019 where I did a variety of undergraduate research ranging from algal identification, fossil accessioning and identification, and larval fish dissection. When I'm not in a murky river searching for mussel and snails, you can find me skiing, hiking, climbing, or spending quality time with my dog.
