Caitlin Sweeney

Caitlin Sweeney is originally from Wetumpka, Alabama. She graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. in Environmental Science in 2018 and an M.S. in Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences in 2020. Following graduation, Caitlin worked in the Watershed Program of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System until starting at the Jones Center at Ichauway in Newton, Georgia in 2021. Caitlin worked as the Research Associate for the Aquatic Biology Lab from 2021 to 2023 and developed a fascination for freshwater mussels. At the start of 2024 she transitioned to Assistant Biologist for the Affiliate Mussel Conservation Lab, where she’s contributed to mussel surveys, developed a guide to mussels of the Flint River Basin, and contributed to a Habitat Conservation Plan.
