Lucas Ellingson-Cosenza
Born in South Carolina, I moved to and grew up in Newport, Oregon in sight of the Pacific Ocean on the western coast of the United States. I grew a strong connection to freshwater ecosystems as a result of spending my summers camping in central Oregon with my family, where I grew into an avid angler. Deciding what to pursue for my undergraduate studies was no challenge: in 2023 I graduated from Oregon State University with a BS in Biology with a minor in Fish & Wildlife Sciences. After spending a year in a variety of technician positions with Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, I moved to Pocatello, Idaho to pursue my Master's degree with Dr. Colden Baxter as my advisor. My research focuses on Yellowstone cutthroat trout in the Teton River basin in southeast Idaho through ecological and social science methods. In my free time, I'll still be in and around rivers and lakes - just with a fly rod instead of a backpack electrofisher.
